WELCOME TO KINDERHORN

Mum and Stuart

Maureen and Stuart Horner of the Kinderhorn Norwegian Elkhounds purchased their first elkhound, Taroscken Tina (Tara), in 1978. They joined the British Elkhound Club (now renamed the Norwegian Elkhound Club of Great Britain) in the same year. To date they have owned or bred five UK Champions and currently own two bitches (Lizzie and Minnie).

Kinderhorn has bred four litters. Two dogs from these litters became Champions. There are no current plans for future litters, but Maureen's skills at the side of the whelping box are still in demand!

Stuart awards Challenge Certificates in elkhounds, and most recently judged the Norwegian Elkhound Club of Great Britain's 2007 Championship Show.

Maureen is an experienced judge at Open Show level, having previously judged the Norwegian Elkhound Association of Scotland's Open Show and the Norwegian Elkhound Club of Great Britain's Open Show.

They are both members of the Norwegian Elkhound Club of Great Britain (NECGB) and the Norwegian Elkhound Association of Scotland (NEAS). Stuart was a long standing Commitee member of the NECGB, and was a tutor on the Club's Judges' Training Scheme.

The Horners have attended shows in the UK, Ireland, the USA and Scandinavia.

The Horners live in New Mills at the edge of England's beautiful Peak District, surrounded by open countryside just perfect for dog walking!

Stuart is a keen photogapher, and his photos have adorned many a Club Journal and website, both here and abroad. You can see some of Stuart's masterpieces if you follow the link to the right - these are not the same as the photographs in our own Photo Gallery!

The affix Kinderhorn was granted by the Kennel Club in 1980.
